We reached Rajabhatkhawa around 11.30 am and visited the museum. Rajabhatkhawa is a small town situated just outside the Buxa Tiger Reserve in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India. It is known for its natural environment and is surrounded by forest. All the permits for the entry to the Buxa Tiger reserve can be taken from here.
We made our Buxa-Jayanti permit in forest office just adjacent to the museum. It costs Rs. 490(cash\credit card\debit card accepted). The name of the place literally means “(the place) where the king had a meal”.There is a story behind the name of the village. It is said that in 1800, the king of Cooch Behar vowed to never eat rice if he did not manage to defeat the ruler of Bhutan from the area where the village thrives now. After some time, the king of Bhutan himself agreed to leave and as a gesture of harmony, the kings met and had a feast of rice in the dense forest. That gave the village its name.

Ambiance
It is a great place to spot birds and go for safaris to the Buxa reserve. If you have patience you would spot the Golden Orioles, rufous babbler, Hill Mainas and Blue-throated barbet. It also falls in the path of the reserve elephants which enter the compound as and when.
The Jayanti Hills Jungle Camp Resort rajabhatkhawa offers pet-friendly accommodation in Rajabhatkhāwa. The Jayanti Hills Jungle Camp Resort rajabhatkhawa has a barbecue and children’s playground, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. But rooms are comparatively small.

Each room comes with a flat-screen TV. All rooms have a private bathroom. Drawbacks are windows of each room has no grill, no mosquito/insect net on the window. But Subol, Manager of the property is a not only helpful but also responsible person (he returned me my money online in my bank a/c which I paid him excess). Contact him (7699156189) before booking.

All of us were hungry. We ordered four mutton meals (Rs.160 per plate). We finished our lunch at around 2 pm. In the evening we went to Alipurduar to meet our relatives and friends. We came back to our resort at around 8 pm and have our dinner at 9.30 pm.
Subol – 07699156189 ( Manager )
of Jayanti Hills Jungle Camp Resort rajabhatkhawa already fixed a Maruti van for Jyanti Buxa tour which will reach our resort around 8.30 am. The food is excellent! The cook is great and the hosts are helpful and very welcoming. The mango chutney, the aloo posto, the spinach & other vegetables and the dal are very appetizing. I would definitely recommend these cuisines.
