After a long day’s drive from Leh, we reached Pangong around 5 pm. Golden Camps & Huts Pangong is just at the starting point of the lake. The place is known as Spangmik, a majestic 180-degree view of the lake with peaks in the back-drop. For your information, Golden Camps & Huts Pangong is about 1km from Lukung or the first set-up of dhabas / restaurants. There is only one road from Lukung and Spangmik, so carry-on on the same road. In the left-hand side of the road, we saw the board bearing the name Golden Camps & Huts Pangong. We went a little bit up and reached the site.

The one and only one manager cum sweeper rushed near our cab and really we got a warm welcome from him. His name is Tandup. He mentioned that all left the place only he is waiting for us. After our departure, he will also leave due to the harsh weather of winter.
Golden Camps & Huts Pangong is a budget set-up but with spacious huts with individually attached washroom. And there is separate dining. Do note that there is no electricity and they run their generators from sunset till 10 pm. Room and washroom are very clean. Linens are also clean. But odor of strong perfumes was coming from quilts/blankets which prove that they are not regularly cleaned. There were one tea table and two plastic chairs. Most appreciating things is that the scenic beauty of Pangong lake you can enjoy through your glass window or when you open your door.
In front of the property a huge parking area that allows you to sit anywhere and enjoy the views of the lake. They have 4 cabins and or rooms can accommodate 3 persons easily. Extra bedding is provided and so are towels, warm water in buckets, etc. We have no mobile connectivity there and the property has not provided any wi-fi. We were also not interested in the connection because we went there to experience Pangong Lake and its beauty. Golden Camps & Huts Pangong have a big dining area which remains warm due to the attached kitchen. We came and sat to spend time in the warm and cozy dining area. From there we could also view a wide range of lake through the window.
Tandup served us coffee and asked us what we would have in our dinner. He also mentioned Pangong is a remote location so chicken is very rare and also informed us there is no government-backed electricity so they run their own generator. We told him that in dinner we will take only rice, sabji and egg curry. After sunset strong wind started blowing. The temperature came below zero. The night was full with moon night. The moonlight reflected on the water of Lake. Snow coated mountains are glittering that was also reflected in the water. We were sitting in heaven. Around 9 pm Tandup served us a hot meal. It was nearly yummy. After dinner, he came to our room with a thermos filled up with hot water and also told us to call him if anything we require.
The night was quite full of adventure. I woke up around 2.30 am due to the sound of strong wind. It seemed the wind would blow away our hut. I removed the curtain and saw once again the beauty of Pangong in full moonlight. For the room, they had charged Rs.2790(a little bit high in off-season) and for dinner and coffee, they charged Rs. 700. I strongly recommend Golden Camps & Huts Pangong and must appreciate Tandup for his cordial behavior.
