Aandhi (Storm) is an Indian political drama film starring Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen and directed by Gulzar. At the time it was alleged that the film was based on the life of the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her relationship with her separated husband. The story is based on a chance meeting of a separated couple after several years, when wife Aarti Devi, now a leading politician happens to stay in the hotel run by her husband during an election campaign. The movie is noted for its songs composed by Rahul Dev Burman, written by Gulzar and sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
Suchitra Sen, the renowned actress from Bengali cinema played the lead role of Aarti Devi. The songs of the film were shot at various sites in Jammu and Kashmir state, like “Tum Aa Gaye Ho” was shot around Pari Mahal gardens in Srinagar, the classic “Tere Bina Zindagi Se” at the ruined 7th-8th century Martand Sun Temple, near Anantnag, while “Is Mod Se Jaate Hai” was shot at Pahalgam. Most of the songs have architectural ruins as a backdrop, portraying brokeness.
2. Bajrangi Bhaijaan
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Brother Bajrangi) is a Hindi comedy-drama film stars Salman Khan and Harshaali Malhotra in leading roles. The film follows Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, a passionate devotee of Hindu deity Hanuman, who go aboard on a journey to take a dumb six-year-old Pakistani Muslim girl, separated in India from her parents, back to her hometown in Pakistan.
It was nominated for 4 awards at the 61st Filmfare Awards, including Best Film and Best Actor, and won the Filmfare Award for Best Story. It was also selected for Best Foreign Film in China’s 2015 Douban Film Awards.
The shooting took place in the Kashmir Valley in places like Sonamarg and Zoji La. The film’s climax was shot at Sonmarg near the Thajiwas glacier (at 10,000 ft above sea level) with around 7,000 people.
Bobby is a 1973 Indian musical romance film, produced and directed by Raj Kapoor. The film stars Raj Kapoor’s son, Rishi Kapoor, in his first principal role, opposite Dimple Kapadia in her debut role.

Haider is a Hindi crime drama film written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Tabu in the lead role. The film is both a modern-day version of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet and an adaptation of Basharat Peer’s memoir Curfewed Night, set amidst the insurgency-hit Kashmir conflicts of 1995 and civilian disappearances.
Haider, a young student, and a poet return to Kashmir at the highest of the conflict to seek answers about his father’s disappearance and ends up being hauled into the politics of the state.
Among several awards and nominations in India, the film won 5 National Film Awards: Best Male Playback Singer, Best Dialogue, Best Choreography, Best Costume Design, and Best Music Direction. Principal photography began at Dal Lake in November 2013. Haider was filmed at Pahalgam, Kehribal area in Anantnag, Mattan, Aishan Sahab Zaina Kadal Bridge in old Srinagar, Nishat Bagh, Dal Lake, Qazigund, Martand Sun Temple, Naseem Bagh (at Kashmir University Garden), Hazratbal and Sonamarg, all of which are located in Jammu and Kashmir.
Junglee (“Wild” or “Ill-Mannered”) is a Bollywood movie produced and directed by Subodh Mukherjee. The music is by Shankar Jaikishan. The film stars Shammi Kapoor, Lalita Pawar, Shashikala, Anoop Kumar and Asit Sen. Saira Banu, in her introduction film, earned a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress.
Shekhar (Shammi Kapoor) belongs to an aristocratic family, run by Shekhar’s bossy mother (Lalita Pawar). He completes his education in London and comes back to run his business. In his family, people shouldn’t talk more than needed and laughter is completely banned. Shekhar follows all those rules strictly from the heart, but his younger sister Mala (Shashikala) is not like him. She laughs and wanders freely and even falls in love with Jeevan (Anoop Kumar), who works in her brother’s company.

When her mother finds out that Mala is in love with a common man, she asks her son to take her away to some distant place and make her forget this man. Shekhar agrees and takes Mala to Kashmir. There he meets the charming and lively Rajkumari (Saira Banu), daughter of a local doctor, and gets involved with her. But he remembers his mother’s expectations that he should marry a girl from the aristocratic family and maintains a distance with Rajkumari.
6. Kabhi Kabhi
Kabhi Kabhie (Sometimes) is a Hindi romantic drama film, produced and directed by Yash Chopra, starring a collective cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Raakhee, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Rishi Kapoor, and Neetu Singh.
The movie was shot in Kashmir, and Yash Chopra has claimed this to be one of his happiest experiences and he labeled the production as a “honeymoon”, since the entire cast worked together as a family. The film also led to the reinvention of Amitabh Bachchan as a romantic poet who loses his love, which was the main departure from his earlier “angry young man” roles such as Deewaar and Zanjeer.

7. Love Story
Love Story is a 1981 Hindi romantic movie directed by Rahul Rawail. The film stars Rajendra Kumar alongside his son Kumar Gaurav and Vijeta Pandit, both were making their film debuts. Vidya Sinha, Amjad Khan, Danny Denzongpa, and Aruna Irani appear in supporting roles.
Kumar Gaurav was launched in Bollywood through Love Story. The film realized “blockbuster” status, making Kumar Gaurav a “Star” overnight.
8. Mission Kashmir
Mission Kashmir is a Bollywood action film directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Starring a collective cast of Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Jackie Shroff, and Sonali Kulkarni.

Arriving for the first day’s shoot in Srinagar dressed as a Kashmiri militant, which he depicts in the film, the security guards on location thought Hrithik really was Kashmiri and refused to allow him on set! Shortly thereafter, on 14 Jan 2000 Hrithik’s début film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai turned him a superstar overnight, ‘Hrithikmania’ swept India … and his face was instantly recognized everywhere.
Tubelight is a Hindi war drama film written and directed by Kabir Khan. The film is produced by Salman Khan and Kabir Khan. Set in the 1962 Sino-Indian War, it stars Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu, and Om Puri. Arrangements were shot in Ladakh, Kashmir, and Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

Uri: The Surgical Strike is a Hindi historical military action film. It is directed and written by debutant Aditya Dhar.
